Researching in Denmark Using the Internet $10.00

This workshop uses sites in Denmark so it is imperative that you know the following details: Know the Christian and Surname of the person you are looking for. What country where they born in? What state / county do they come from? What parish / village/town do they come from? If you don’t know the parish/village/town you will not be able to find anything.
Before you come to the workshop try to find where they came from: Did they marry in New Zealand after 1880 If yes... Get a photocopy of the marriage certificate. This should tell you who their parents were and also what village/town they were from. If they married overseas have you used the IGI? This is on the internet at <www.familysearch.org> you can put in the names you are looking for and also the country it will bring up a list of names and also who they married. Pay a visit to the FRC in Panmure or your nearest Family History Centre of the LDS and they will help you. Did they have children born in New Zealand after 1875? If yes...Then get a birth certificate. This should give you the parents= marriage date and where it took place and where the parents were born.
If you have looked at all the above but still only know the country. Then get the Death Certificate and see what information it gives. One other place that may have the information you need is Naturalization Papers. Look on NZSG Index Version 4 CD ROM or go to your Library most libraries have a copy of the government=s index for naturalization. Learn how to perform searches to get the best results for your research. Learn how to inform the system of your interests, so you get notified when new items arrive in the library. You’ll be shown how to write and find reviews and how to order books through the catalogue. You must register for this workshop even though it is free. |

The ancestral pathway for Pakeha / Maori is a road less travelled due to social closures based on whakapapa and genealogy that impacts upon and oftentimes excludes families of mixed race. This workshop will look at how to assist Pakeha / European /Asian mothers, fathers, grandmothers, grandfathers, uncles and aunts to find and research the genealogies and whakapapa for their children and grandchildren, nieces and nephews that carry Maori ancestry in their bloodlines.
