England Jurisdictions 1851


FamilySearch has a mapping and research tool designed to help you locate possible records of your ancestors in England.

How Does it Work?

Go to England Jurisdictions 1851 at Family Search.

You can search either by way of an area on the map itself or enter the Location in the search box. The position of your search will appear on the Map. Various options include the County, Parish, Civil Registration District and so on. Once selected, you will find further details about the history of the place.  

There is a How to search option available.

If you select “Parish” for example, you will get a full list of Parishes for that area on the map.  Once you select a specific Parish, you will see three tabs - Info, Jurisdictions and Options.

Click on the Info tab for:

  • Date the parish was established
  • Location of the parish
  • Dates of the surviving church registers

Click on the Jurisdictions tab for:

  • County
  • Civil Registration District
  • Probate Court
  • Diocese
  • Rural Deanery

Click on the Options tab for:

  • List of contiguous parishes
  • Radius search
  • Family History Library Catalog search
  • FamilySearch Research Wiki search
