My sister and I recently spent a day at the NZSG Research Centre in Panmure. We made a number of discoveries in our Whakapapa search, thanks to the assistance of the volunteers in the library. They can save you so much time, as they know where to look and what information can be found there. Pat was particularly helpful, enthusiastically joining us in following leads and producing resources I didn't even know existed e.g. burial record books where I discovered where my great-great-grandfather was buried, along with his wife, and even what was written on the headstone! I will return to the research centre to find further information, spending a morning there, as it is quieter at that time.

Workshop - Continental European Research

I attended this yesterday.  After many failed attempts to be able to attend - I was really pleased to do so yesterday.  Graham was clear, through, & informative.  The history of borders as illustrated by his maps was an excellent starting point.  It was interesting seeing how he approached searching for records & locations
